Adhesive tape is frequently used in logistics – mostly for sealing boxes or temporarily securing light goods. It is also sometimes used to secure pallets – for example, to connect containers or to ‘stick’ goods together.
But this is precisely where the problem lies: the tapes can only be used once and generate waste. The adhesive strength is not sufficient for tensile or compressive loads. The adhesive film quickly fails when exposed to heat, cold or moisture. Residues remain stuck to products or packaging.
